Curriculum

First time students begin sailing the first day of camp after an orientation, which includes basic shore instruction, an introduction to our fleet, and a capsize drill. On the water, we start with how to steer and tack, and then add skills and concepts quickly. Knot tying, boat rigging and safety essentials are incorporated along the way.  Continuing students receive instruction tailored to their sailing level with an emphasis on time on the water and fun exercises and excursions.

Our team of Instructors is a mix of year round and seasonal instructors who have wholeheartedly embraced our community-based, non-competitive teaching philosophy.

Last two weeks of Sail Camp may be sold out but we still have lots to offer!

Unfortunately, the last two weeks are sold out with waiting lists so we have removed those options from the registartion system.  We've had a unprecedented rush to sign up for the last two weeks.  Our regular Thursday After School Sailing restarts Aug. 22 and our Saturday Open Sailing restarts Aug. 24.  Monthly Learn to Sail packages begin Sept. 7.  We have the flexibility to add days if you like or create special classes for groups.  Visit of Programs page or email us for more information.

Online Lunch ordering is now available

You may order lunch from the kitchen online.  Simply follow the link from the side menu of our Summer Sail Camp page or simply click here.  Your child's lunch will be warm and ready just in time for their mid-day break.  View the menu here and plan your selections.

Registration for 2020 Sail Camp is open!

Please read these instructions before using our Registration system.  We have streamlined the registration system to ask for a minimum amount of information but the are a couple of quirks we need you to know.  Please don't hesitate to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions.

    • As part of Registering, a user account on the system is established.  This allows you to access your reservations.  Your email will be your username so you might want to make a note of the email you use when creating your account.
    • SMWYC Members only, you will be asked for a Member Number.  Enter anything or nothing in this field.  You will then enter a coupon code at checkout to receive member pricing.  To receive the Coupon Codes, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

    • First Time Sailors, due to County Regulations, we no longer perform swim tests on the first day so your confirmation of your child's ability to swim is very important.  We do a Capsize Drill on the first or second day of camp, and that will confirm your child is comfortable enough in the water to continue.  In rare instances, this drill has excluded some students, in which case, we refund the balance of the week.

    • Aftercare:  You will be able to use the reservation system to order aftercare and pay in advance.  This will be up as we get closer to Camp starting.  Aftercare hours are 3:30 to 5:00 pm and the cost is $20.

    • Lunch:  You are free to pack a lunch or you can order in advance online.  Look for the link in the right menu of our Sail Camp webpage.
